Management Skills for Healthcare Professionals:
Effective doctor-patient communication is at the core of superior clinical care and is extremely vital in building a strong relationship of trust , transparency and credibility between the patient and his/her care provider. This is extremely important , particularly in this day and age when healthcare consumerism is gaining momentum in the industry. In fact research shows that many of the reasons for low patient satisfaction scores and patient complaints are primarily linked to some failures in the doctor-patient relationship. Unfortunately, however, this fact is not always acknowledged by many doctors. In fact , many of them tend to misjudge their own communication skills and as such tend to rate themselves higher than what the patient is perceiving. This course is aimed towards rightly assessing one’s communication skills and identifying gaps in where one needs to be versus where he/she is. This will be supported by real life and proven techniques to fill-in those gaps and ultimately optimize the doctor –patient relationship.
