Cardiac Catheterization course:
Coronary arteriography is the most reliable means of investigating and quantitating the severity of coronary artery occlusive disease. Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), also known as coronary angioplasty, is a nonsurgical technique for treating obstructive coronary artery disease, including unstable angina, acute myocardial infarction (MI), and multivessel coronary artery disease (CAD). General cardiology residents and fellows should be familiar with diagnostic coronary angiograms specifically indication, contraindication, access, views, diagnostic catheters, managing complications.
Objectives:
Upon completion of the course, the participant will be able to:

 
  • Know indications and contraindications for coronary angiography

  • Demonstrate the proper techniques in performing cardiac catheterization

  • Understand the different radiological views in cardiac catheterization
